    • Word Cloud Visualizing and Recognizing Security Vulnerability in Social Media
    • Lab & Discussion Exercises

Go to Facebook and copy the contents of several postings on your Facebook home page timeline including your “About” page. Then paste the contents into the word cloud software program. Run the program and get a visual graphic word cloud of the text you cut and pasted into the program.  Now produce a bar graph of word frequencies.

Use the visual graphics of the word cloud to evaluate the information you are presenting.  Do you reveal your birthdate, hometown, siblings, friends, employment, children (if you have any), spouse (if you have one), high school, high school mascot, where you were born, mother’s maiden name, health condition, being away from home, on vacation, information about your work place, etc.  Were you aware this information can be used by identity thieves, foreign intelligence agencies, scammers, burglars, and pedophiles?   Discuss your evaluation of your findings with the rest of the class.
