Intersectionality refers to a sociological perspective that holds that our multiple group membership affect our lives in ways that are distinct from single group memberships. For example, the experience of a black female may be distinct from that of a white female or a black male.
The sociological imagination refers to the application of the imaginative thought to the asking and answering of sociological questions. Someone using the sociological imagination “thinks himself away” from the familiar routines of daily life.
